Want More Than Just Treatment?

We endeavour to offer you advice as to how to avoid causing the problem again and what you can do to ease your recovery or avoid irritating the problem. Advice on ergonomics, lifestyle, diet and home exercise or rehabilitation techniques will be incorporated into appointment visits as appropriate.

A Change of Approach

Sometimes people find that pain killers are not enough. Either they do not remove the pain anymore or the patient would prefer to try getting rid of the problem rather than just suppressing the pain that the problem causes. We will be able to advise you about postural issues, rehabilitative regimes, home treatment programs and chiropractic approaches to treatment dependent upon the problem you have. Likewise some problems we can resolve others cannot be cured but treatment can manage the problem. For example osteoarthritis; if a joint is worn out, we cannot make it grow back to the way it once was, no one can, so we can't cure it. But chiropractic treatment can assist in making the joint function better thus alleviating a lot of the pain.

Prevention/Maintenance

"The Doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame in diet and in the cause and PREVENTION of disease."Thomas A. Edison (1847-1931)

A growing number of people are starting to take an interest in preventative care. This is not as strange as it may sound. You brush your teeth twice a day and visit the dentist for a regular check-up, why? As a preventative measure. Some people only go to the dentist when they can't take the pain any more, they know they have left it too long and that it will be more involved than just a check-up. We find it strange that some people do not go for a regular dental check-up, we even service our cars because of the wear and tear that daily use causes over time. Taking good exercise and nutritional attention are a means of preventative health and attitude and yet a lot of people would not even think about booking a spinal check-up. The stress and strain of modern life, the postural, physical, nutritional and psychological demands we place upon our entire body can take their toll. Your Dentist looks after your teeth, the mechanic your car, the optician your eyes and the chiropractor your spine. The spine is like the heart, you only have one, look after it.

Enhancement

If the tyre pressure on your car is incorrect, the steering wheel wobbles when you brake, the ride is less smooth, and the fuel efficiency of the vehicle is decreased. It's not broken, it still works but it could work better. The same is the case of the body. When a joint is not functioning properly there can be a change to the muscle tension in that area, either of these variations in turn may cause pain. However, if it is not bad enough to cause pain but is contributory enough to change the smoothness of joint and muscle function this could arguably affect an athlete or sport persons performance.

A Second Opinion

Sometimes people have been offered surgery as an option but would like to know if a less invasive approach might offer the improvement they seek. Because we examine medically and holistically we can realistically advise people if Chiropractic might help with their problem or not; before they commit to surgical procedures and the risks associated with it.
